Week 6, Day 1 - Mazes

This week theme is mazes.

We are taking it slower than ever. Safety lessons were as long as they needed to be. And we spent all afternoon designing, brainstorming and prototyping.

Clamping is our newest training station. Every monday we cycle through some crash courses in some of the more important and useful tools in the shop. Up until this week, we had only focused on safety and not breaking things. Clamps are resilient and not dangerous so they never made the cut. However, they are the difference between "can you hold this" and "I've got it". They expand self-expression and help facilitate persistence. This week we made sure each kid knew they existed and how they worked. I am curious to see what happens.

Right after lunch we practice the most dangerous thing we do; crossing the street. Seriously, Chop Saw use is much safer than crossing the street, and we take the appropriate precautions.

In the afternoon the plans begin to take shape and prototype begin to form.
