Homes that Move - Day 5 - Week 1 (Mark Day School)

A big part of Friday is testing. Will the platform rotate and tilt with a heavy house on it? Will the cart roll smoothly across the ground when a kid is riding in it? Will the marble run work to deliver the marble to the waiting bucket? Does the door open when the pulleys are activated?

When we test, we use all of our senses. We watch to see if any wood flexes, we listen for creaks and other sounds that might indicate pressure or friction, we lift and push and pull to determine if our builds will hold up as we’ve designed them. It’s focused work and everyone is eager to be able to determine that indeed we can stand inside the house as it tilts back and forth or walk along the platform sides as it rotates or open a door without touching it.
