The Search for Sea Monsters - Day 1 - Week 4 (Mark Day School)
And… we’re under way! We started off the day with an opportunity to get to know each other and to discuss our goals for the week and our group agreements:
Then it’s on to tool training! Every tinkerer learns how to use and gets practice with our three main tools: clamps, cordless drills and chop saw (aka compound mitre saw).
After lunch, we were ready to reveal the theme for this week:
We’re building a sea monster and a ship that we can sail to go and find it! The first step in building anything is design work. Our tinkerers sketched their ideas and then shared them as part of a “gallery walk” activity where we combine like-ideas to create a composite creation.
There’s more to tell about today, including assembly squares and bridging a pair of 8’ 2x3 beams but I’ll let these photos speak for themselves… (to see even more photos from our day together, click here to visit our Google Photos Album).
