Whale of a Tale - Day 4 - Week 1 (Mark Day School)
Today was our final full day of building, and each tinkerer found a way to contribute in their own way. For some, the pressure to complete things can really motivate them. For others, it can feel like too much pressure. We took time to appreciate each other, talk about what we learned and in general reflect on our experience.
UPDATE ABOUT FRIDAY
At 2:00 pm tomorrow we will have a project unveiling for parents. This is a special event that is a traditional part of every Summer Tinkering week, and we are glad to be able to do some version of it this year, but there are some modifications and rules we are required to follow. If you are unable to attend, we will be posting many, many photos for you to enjoy with your tinkerer.
To attend the unveiling, please bring proof of vaccination and check in at the kiosk near the front office. Unfortunately, siblings that are not attending a mark day camp this week cannot attend. We will have about 20 minutes to admire the work of the students, cheer them on the whale coaster, be amazed by the ingenious whale house, etc. After that, we will ask tinkerers to help us disassemble the creations. We believe this part of the project is critical to cementing the project in the imagination of our tinkerers, so please allow your tinkerer to stay until 3pm helping with this. This is also a time for them to show you the skills they’ve learned.
