Thursday was about Insect Details at Mark Day School

Today we got really, really into insect details at Mark Day School. Now that have a structural foundation (mostly) complete, both teams started to really make the projects LOOK like super weird insects!

Anya worked nearly the entire day on perfecting a bell to add to the inside of one of the DragonFLBee train cars. She wanted the bell to have a very distinct sound, and experimented with so many different materials until she found the right ones!

You're looking at the face of the SpidiPeed (Spider-Centipede). Katherine helped design it, cut it out with the jigsaw, and then decorate it. I learned a lot about this creature today by asking Katherine a lot of questions. The SpidiPeed is a not-nice creature that lives in people's bathtubs. It waits until you have to pee in the middle of the night, and then scares you. Also, it eats candy, grass, and cotton candy.

This happened! Is it a construction barricade? No! It's a stinger for the DragonFLBee, of course! I helped Mila cut the netting with pliers.

Last, but not least, I love this shot of the SpidiPeed! It's almost done!

Tomorrow is our last day of building insects! (NOOOO!!!!) We're all so upset about this that we keep having scream sessions during our circles to let out some of the frustration and sadness together. If you can, come join us at 2:15 as we show off our projects to our families and each other!
