THURSDAY TINKERING AFTERSCHOOL - FINAL SESSION!
Its our final session; everyone is excited but also wondering if it will all get finished, so first the tinkerers gather to figure out what we've finished... and whats left to be done.
Just as we were getting to start to finish and we realized Mr.Potato Head needed a mustache, arms and legs. So, we relied on our division of labor and small collaborative groups; divvied up the work.
The arm and leg group strategized to create limbs with joints and then get to work on the most exiting part, the fingers!!
Once they had a cut list, the crew needed to figure out what they wanted to use to make the fingers, so we took to scrap alley. The tinkerers found an interesting and exiting material, foam!!
Meanwhile, the mustache team had realized that with their mustache finished, they should move on to our final task... attaching the body parts to Mr. Potato Head!!
Across the shop, the arms and legs group had finished cutting out the hands. And so all the tinkerers converged on the head to attach every possible body part!
They worked, and drilled, and screwed, and drilled, and screwed, and worked as we arrived upon our end time, we saw that it may not be possible to attach every single part. Is that okay??
YES!
The Tinkerers finished without ears, without an attached mustache, and without attached feet. However, they finished with a Mr. Potato Head. And what came with their Mr. Potato Head was weeks of new knowledge, friendships, skills, and experiences. The crew stands tall with their giant masterpiece, looking forward!
